Hoboken Ragamuffin Parade

Monday, October 31st, 3:45pm

 

The City of Hoboken annual Ragamuffin Parade and Costume Contest will be held on Monday, October 31st, 2016 at 3:45pm.

To participate in the parade, meet on Washington Street between 13th Street and 14th Street. Setup for line of march begins at 3:15pm.

The parade features local live music, floats, lots of great costumes and so much more. Wear your Halloween best!

The parade will end at the Little League Field for the Costume Contest. Prizes will be awarded in five age categories.

Washington Street will be closed and NJ Transit buses will follow a detour during the parade.

Annual Hoboken House Tour

This year, the Annual Hoboken House Tour on Sunday, Oct. 30, will feature up to 10 homes and condos, plus special bonus stops, graciously opened to visitors by Museum supporters to help us raise funds. Every year, the tour offers a fresh selection of traditional and contemporary homes and condos furnished in a wide range of styles.

Details: The self-guided tour takes about two to three hours on foot. Houses open at 10 a.m. and close at 4 p.m.  Homes may be visited in any order. A map will be included in the House Tour booklet, available only on the day of the tour. 

Two Starting Points: For tour-goers’ convenience, tickets and tour booklets may be picked up from either of two locations: at the Hoboken Historical Museum, 1301 Hudson St., or the Fire Department Museum, 213 Bloomfield St. Three homes are located below 5th Street.

Tickets are $30 in advance, $40 on the day of the tour (Museum members pay $30). The tour is not recommended for children under age 12.

Ticket sales will be limited, so we can’t promise there will be tickets available on the day of the tour.

Hoboken Police Department to Hold 4th “Coffee With a Cop” Meeting

The Hoboken Police Department invites the community to the fourth “coffee with a cop” meeting on Wednesday, October 5th from 9:00am to 10:30am at La Isla Uptown, located at 25 12th Street at the corner of Maxwell Lane.

Coffee with a Cop brings police officers and the community members they serve together – over coffee – to discuss issues, learn more about each other, and strengthen community ties.

In attendance at the meeting will be Chief Ken Ferrante, Captain Tory Pasculli, Lieutenant Scott Hochstadter, Sergeant Steve Kranz, and Detective Ed Lepre, along with Mayor Dawn Zimmer and Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher.

Residents are invited to discuss any law enforcement or policing issues at the local, regional or national level in an informal setting. The Hoboken Police Department will provide coffee and pastries.

The Fleet Feet Sports No Boundaries 5K training program is designed for beginner runners and people who are currently inactive or minimally active. 

There’s no time like the present to get up on your feet, start moving, and become a new and improved you. This 9-week safe, fun, and non-intimidating program is designed for beginners who would like to run, run/walk or walk in a 5k race.

Along the way we provide you with motivation, guidance and advice, weekly group training runs, and educational clinics on topics such as proper nutrition, choosing the right gear, and avoiding injury. There will be pace groups for every level of runner so, you won’t be running alone. Training will start with 1 mile and build up to 3 miles.
